The text below is from the blue post regarding the frame rate issues.   http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=25560016883&sid=1&pageNo=35

Fair day all,

Alright, first I want to address the primary concern that we are ignoring or do not care about this particular situation. I’m here to reassure you that we very much do and want to do everything we can to assist. Now while we will be unable to address all of the posts in this thread for the obvious reason of the sheer amount of posts we’re going to handle it in the following way:

1: We’re going to request some diagnostic information, screen shots, system profiles, and description of the area and how long this took to occur.

2: We’d appreciate this information being sent to the following e-mail address: forumtech@blizzard.com (Please note that this e-mail at this time should only be used to address this particular issue. If the information requested is NOT attached to the e-mail we will NOT be able to assist. While I cannot guarantee an immediate reply, we will be going through the information and attempting to investigate these reports as quickly as possible. I can promise we will do our best to determine exactly what is going on however this may take time. This brings me to point 3.)

3: Please be patient with us while we attempt to nail down the exact problem and beat it into submission. We know this is extremely frustrating, at the moment, 34 pages of frustrating to be more precise. We here on the forums know better than anyone that trial and error is part of the game and as always we will be working closely to try and assist as much as possible to provide an Epic response in this situation. While I cannot guarantee a fix or a magic wand, we can do everything we can and we will. Please bear with us and we’ll do what we can. Thanks for your patience, understanding, and continued patronage.

Requirements for e-mail contact: (Please note that you do not have to e-mail for assistance however this is specifically for us to gather data. Once we have enough data collected we will post a follow-up here as the thread will remain unlocked and active. Bumping will not be needed.)

1: Please download and install the program GPU-Z. (Found at http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/) Once the program is running please load it and select the Sensors Tab at the top. Then place a check mark next to “Log to File” (Please select your desktop from the window as the save location.) and next to “Continue refreshing…” so that the graphs and stats are in real-time.

2: We request that World of Warcraft be in an initial install state by resetting the interface and ensuring a clean UI/Operating Environment. This of course requires that there be no addons installed. To do this we do not ask that you delete them but please go to your World of Warcraft directory and moving the entire “Interface” folder to your desktop. *NOTE* We do not require the WTF/Cache folders to be deleted, merely the Interface folder to be moved out of the main directory. (Instructions to completely reset the User Interface can be found here: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId=21041&pageNumber=1&searchQuery=user+interface)

3: If you are running Windows XP please use the following steps, if you are not please skip to step 4. The instructions for this can be found here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=21723843232&sid=1 and you will add the lines in question to your Config.wtf which is found in the main World of Warcraft directory or add it via a character in game. Do this regardless of your graphics card.
Open config.wtf found in the WTF folder (Commonly C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WTF\. To open it please right+click on Config.wtf and select “Open With” and then choose “Wordpad”; from the list of available programs. Then modify the SET gxAPi line.)
Find the entry for SET gxAPi
Change the text in quotes to D3D9ex

OR

Log in to a character. If your main is crashing, try creating a new char.
In any chat window type /console gxapi d3d9ex
Restart the game. Once complete please continue to step 4.

4: Load World of Warcraft and begin playing the game. Please ensure you are playing the game in windowed mode (If you’re unsure how to do this then Right+Click on your WoW shortcut. In the Target field please add –windowed to the end, ex… [“C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Launcher.exe" –windowed] Do not add the [] on either side) so that the GPU-Z program is visible. While doing so at some point please take a full screenshot of the computer (Print Screen key, then create a new bitmap file and save that image by pasting it into the new bitmap) while the game is running fine. In the same light please repeat this process whenever the computer begins to run slow and you notice the drop in framerate. This will help prove whether or not the issue is related to throttling/overheating. We need to address all possible avenues.

5: Create and attach the system diagnostic and info files so we know more about the computer in which this is occurring. (To do this please follow the instructions found here: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?locale=en_US&articleId=22660&pageNumber=1&searchQuery=dxdiag)

6: Once all this is complete make sure the log file, screen shots, error files (located in the errors folder in your WoW directory) and diagnostic information are all in a similar area and please e-mail them to forumtech@blizzard.com with all the files attached. We will attempt to gather and address this information in a timely fashion but again please be patient.

Finally, I want to apologize again for the obvious frustration this has caused. We know this is quite a bit of information we’re asking for and we want to assure you that we will never give you up, never let you down and I’m certainly not going to run around or desert you…
